Endings
When was a time you felt like you ended something well?
Sometimes I'm slow to catch on. This little project of mine went dormant a very long time ago, and it's taken me ages to realize (or acknowledge) that it's time to wrap it up. And while it feels weird to write to you now--so long after the actual "end"--I realized it's important (to me, at least) to try to give it a formal close.
When I think about ending well, here are a few criteria that seem important:
Paying attention to timing, knowing when it's time to call it quits.
I definitely missed that boat!
Doing some kind of "debrief" about the experience.
This project came into being during the pandemic, and I'll always be grateful for the creative challenge (and distraction) during those trying times.
You were great friends along the way! Thank you for playing along and generously sharing your own thoughts and experiences.
Considering what's next.
This is probably what's slowed me down the most. So I guess I'll just say that the site will be closing down, but the questions will of course continue! I still post on Facebook, and questions are the hallmark of my facilitation work at Flint & Flow.
Saying a meaningful goodbye.
Here's me, giving that a try.
I find such joy in questions & their answers, and I look forward to staying curious with you! In the meantime, I wonder what you might add to this list? What's been your experience with good endings?
With deep gratitude,
Lori
