Fears overcome?
What's a scary thing that you've learned to be good at?
I still remember the first phone call I ever made. I was 10 or 11, standing in our family's attic apartment, staring down at that black contraption and sweating. My parents had talked me through the whole process, and they were right there cheering me on--but still, I was terrified. I can't quite put my finger on why that call was so frightening. Or why virtually every call I've made since then has set my heart racing all over again.
Fear of phone calls is a serious "Achilles heel" for someone with loved ones in virtually every time zone. So I've been trying to work my way through the anxiety, trusting that the effort will eventually pay off in terms of deeper connections. It's not easy, though, so I'm looking for stories of hope. Help me out?
What's something that used to frighten you that no longer does? How did you find your way past the fear? And what's the reward for you now?
